Critical analysis of the final perfection of man from Ibn Sina's point of view

Abstract

Based on the analysis of Ibn Sina's psychological foundations, this article explains and analyzes his view on human happiness and ultimate perfection, and then reveals some of its shortcomings.On the basis of his psychological views, including the spirituality of the temporality of the soul, the negation of substantial movement, the negation of the union of the rational and intelligible, and the negation of the union of the soul with the active intellect, Ibn Sina has explained the nature of human happiness. According to him, the ultimate perfection of man is in the evolution of the theoretical intellect in achieving the rank of acquired intellect which receives intelligible forms from active intellect. In this evolution, accidents are added to the existence of the soul, but the soul itself is imperfect like any incorporeal entity. This occures without the soul being united with intelligible forms nor with the active intellect.In other words, BuAli considers the ultimate perfection of man to be the direct observation of the soul in relation to the supreme principles and the Almighty God, but this image cannot be considered to have emerged from the Sinavi system of philosophy.
