Abstract

Due to the valuable discovery of the Nag Hammadi Library in 1945, the full text of the Gospel of Thomas is available to everyone now. Unlike the church fathers’ opinion, most early Christian scholars propose that the Gospel of Thomas is an authentic book which was written in the early centuries of AD and contains the original teachings of Jesus. Regardless of the historical Jesus, the image of Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas is very different from what is depicted in canonical Christian writings. This study shows that Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas is just Jesus that means his nature is not different from the nature of other people. Jesus is not crucified for the sins of no one and he doesn't die and doesn't rise from the grave in Easter rather promises whoever drinks from my mouth will become like me and does not taste the death.
